Official City Notice: Sunday, 5 April 2026

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) and regional authorities have issued the following public service announcements and official notices for Sunday, 5 April 2026. Residents and visitors are advised to review these updates to ensure community safety and to account for service disruptions during the Easter long weekend.

Infrastructure and Road Maintenance

As part of the scheduled maintenance window from 4 April to 10 April 2026, several road projects are currently active or undergoing site preparation. Motorists should be aware of the following conditions:

  • Clifton Road Upgrade: Preliminary site setup for the North Branch reconstruction project is underway. While major pavement reconstruction and full road closures are slated to begin on Tuesday, 7 April, motorists can expect increased construction vehicle activity and minor shoulder works in the area this Sunday.
  • Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road: Ongoing safety upgrades continue between Torrington and Cecil Plains. Single-lane closures remain in effect under controlled conditions with a reduced speed limit of 40km/h. Drivers should expect stop-and-go signaling near the Carrington Road and Heinemann Road roundabout.
  • Warrego Highway: Preliminary safety improvement works continue on the corridor between Toowoomba and Dalby. Minor shoulder closures and increased heavy vehicle presence are expected.

Public Health Advisory: Measles Vigilance

Darling Downs Health is maintaining a public health alert following the detection of measles cases within the region. Authorities urge all residents to remain vigilant for symptoms, which can appear up to three weeks after exposure. Key symptoms include fever, a persistent cough, runny nose, and a characteristic red blotchy rash. To prevent further transmission, anyone suspecting they have contracted the virus is strictly advised to phone their GP or 13HEALTH before visiting a medical facility or hospital.

Public Transport: Easter Rail Disruptions

In alignment with the Easter long weekend maintenance schedule, significant rail disruptions are active this Sunday, 5 April. Translink has confirmed that buses will replace trains across major sections of the regional and South East Queensland networks. Commuters using the West Moreton line should allow for additional travel time and check the latest service status via the Translink website or app before heading to the station.

Sporting Fields and Parks

The Toowoomba region has officially transitioned to the winter sporting season as of 1 April. All local sporting fields are now operating under winter season permit conditions. While many fields remain open for recreational use, the general public is reminded that any unauthorized use of fields marked as 'Closed' for maintenance is a breach of Council policy. Users are encouraged to check the live field status portal for real-time updates following any localized weather events.
