Public Notice: South Street Roadworks and Lane Closures

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) wishes to advise residents and motorists of scheduled roadworks on South Street for Friday, 10 April 2026. A kerbside lane closure will be in place between Searle Street and West Street from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. During this period, only westbound traffic will be permitted through the work zone. These works are part of the broader South Street upgrade project designed to improve local pavement quality and drainage.

Motorists are further advised that a full intersection closure is scheduled for the West Street and South Street intersection starting at 6:00 am on Saturday, 11 April. To avoid delays, drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes such as Drayton Road or Stephen Street. Signage and traffic control will be on-site to assist with detours.

Major Project Update: Clifton Road Reconstruction

Site setup works have officially commenced for the Clifton Road Reconstruction Project at North Branch. While the road remains open to local traffic today, a full hard closure between Leslie Bridge Road and Volker Road is scheduled to begin next week. This significant infrastructure project involves widening the roadway to 8 metres and enhancing safety for agricultural and heavy vehicle operators. Residents are reminded that detour routes via Pittsworth–Felton Road and Toowoomba–Karara Road will be clearly signposted once the full closure takes effect.

Waste and Recycling Services

Council confirms that all kerbside waste, recycling, and green waste collection services will proceed as scheduled for Friday, 10 April. Residents are reminded to have their bins on the kerbside by 6:00 am to ensure collection. All regional waste management facilities remain open during their standard operating hours. For those requiring bin repairs or replacements, requests can be submitted via the Council’s online service portal or the TRC mobile app.

Community Announcement: Mayoral Prayer Breakfast

Toowoomba Regional Council is pleased to announce that proceeds from the upcoming 32nd Mayoral Prayer Breakfast will be shared between the Toowoomba Hospice and the Toowoomba PCYC’s Youth and Community programs. The breakfast is scheduled for Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at Rumours International. This annual event serves as a vital fundraiser for local charities that provide essential support services to our region’s most vulnerable residents. Tickets are now available for purchase through the Council’s website.

Sporting Facility Transition

With the winter sporting season now officially underway, the Council reminds all local clubs and associations that the winter permit period (1 April to 30 September) is active. Field status updates are provided regularly on the Council’s website. Users are encouraged to check for any 'Inspection Required' notices before commencing weekend training or fixtures, particularly following recent maintenance works on regional ovals.
