Water Conservation: Summer Restrictions in Effect
Toowoomba Regional Council reminds residents that Summer water restrictions remain in effect across the region until Tuesday, 31 March 2026. As today is Sunday, the following schedule applies:
- Residential Watering: Residents of even-numbered or unnumbered properties may use sprinklers and hoses today between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm.
- Method of Use: Hand-held hoses with a trigger or twist nozzle, efficient irrigation systems, or buckets are permitted during the designated hour.
- Odd-Numbered Properties: Today is a non-watering day for odd-numbered properties.
Please note that winter watering hours (4:30 pm to 5:30 pm) will commence on 1 April 2026.
Public Health Alert: Measles Vigilance
Darling Downs Health is maintaining a public health alert following the detection of measles cases in the Toowoomba region. Health authorities urge the community to remain vigilant for symptoms, which typically include fever, a persistent cough, runny nose, and a characteristic red blotchy rash. If you suspect you or a family member may have contracted measles, please contact your GP or 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84) via telephone before visiting a medical facility to prevent potential transmission in waiting rooms.
Infrastructure and Road Closures
Ongoing infrastructure works continue to impact traffic conditions across the region. Residents should plan for the following:
- Yandilla: Reichle Road remains closed for flood recovery culvert replacement works. A detour is in place via Owen’s Scrub Road and Church Road. This closure is expected to remain until the end of March.
- Torrington: Altered traffic conditions persist on Kimberley Court for water main installation. Traffic control is on-site as required.
- Maintenance Reminder: While most active bitumen resealing works are conducted on weekdays, residents in East Toowoomba and Harristown are reminded to keep road reserves clear of parked vehicles where signage indicates upcoming Monday morning starts for local road surface upgrades.
Community Health Feedback
Darling Downs Health reminds the public that the independent assurance review of Toowoomba Hospital’s maternity services is currently seeking community feedback. The online questionnaire will remain open until 2 April 2026. This review is an opportunity for residents who have utilized these services to contribute to the future of healthcare delivery in our region.
Park and Field Status
As of Sunday morning, most regional sports fields are at an 'Open' or 'Inspection Required' status. Due to recent localized weather, some turf wickets may be restricted. Users are advised to check the Toowoomba Regional Council website for the latest status updates before traveling to local grounds.
