Public Notice: Essential Infrastructure Works and Seasonal Health Advisory

Official Council Roundup: Tuesday, 31 March 2026
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) and regional health authorities have issued the following public service announcements and notices for Tuesday, 31 March 2026. Residents and commuters are encouraged to review these updates to ensure minimal disruption to daily routines and to maintain community safety during ongoing infrastructure projects.
Extensive Road Infrastructure and Maintenance
Council’s current maintenance and capital works program continues across the region. Drivers are advised to expect delays and plan alternative routes where possible:
- Rangeville: Alderley Street, between High Street and Blackburn Street, remains subject to a road closure today from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. This closure is necessary for road gully unit upgrades. Local resident access is maintained, with detours in place for through traffic. Works are expected to conclude on 2 April.
- Highfields: Ongoing installation of water mains for future reservoirs continues on Lawrence Road. Traffic disruptions are expected throughout the day as part of this long-term project, which is scheduled to run through late May.
- Kingsthorpe: Reconstruction works on Gowrie Street, between Goombungee Road and King Street, are active. Motorists should anticipate altered traffic conditions and reduced speed limits in this zone until late August.
- Torrington: Water main installation works continue on Kimberley Court. Temporary traffic management is in place and will remain active until the end of April.
- Northern District Maintenance: Heavy formation grading is scheduled for today in the northern regions, specifically affecting Beckett Road and Cherry Creek Road in Cherry Creek, and Back Creek Road in Crows Nest.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Vigilance
Darling Downs Health is maintaining a high-level public health alert following the confirmation of measles cases within the Toowoomba region. Residents are urged to monitor for symptoms including fever, tiredness, runny nose, a persistent cough, and a characteristic red blotchy rash. Because measles is highly contagious, authorities request that anyone suspecting infection phone their GP or 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84) to arrange testing before visiting a clinic or hospital in person. This prevents potential transmission in public waiting areas.
Water Conservation: Final Day of Summer Schedule
Today marks the final day of the Summer Water Restriction period for the Toowoomba Region. Under the current schedule, Tuesday is a designated watering day for odd-numbered residential properties only. Permitted watering hours are strictly limited to the window between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm. From tomorrow, 1 April, the region will transition to the autumn/winter water conservation guidelines. Residents are thanked for their continued cooperation in managing our regional water security.
Community Reminders
With the Easter long weekend approaching (Good Friday, 3 April), residents are reminded that Toowoomba is currently the top trending domestic destination for 2026. Please prepare for increased traffic and pedestrian activity in the CBD and around major parks like Queens Park. Additionally, final registrations are open for Queensland Youth Week (12–25 years), featuring a series of free events starting early next month.
