Official Council Roundup: Monday, 23 March 2026

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) and regional health authorities have issued the following public service announcements and notices for Monday, 23 March 2026. Residents are encouraged to review these updates to ensure minimal disruption to daily routines and to maintain community safety.

Extensive Road Resurfacing and Closures

Council’s bitumen resealing program continues today with several short-term road closures in effect from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. These works are part of the proactive maintenance schedule to extend the life of local infrastructure. Affected residents are reminded to keep road reserves clear of parked vehicles during these hours. Impacted areas include:

  • East Toowoomba: Short-term closures are active on Boyden Street (between Curzon and Wirra Wirra Streets), Cavell Street (between Mary and Mackenzie Streets), and Dunmore Street.
  • South Toowoomba & Harristown: Resurfacing works continue on McLeish Street, Miles Street, Phyllis Street, and Power Street. Detours are in place, and local access is maintained for residents.
  • Torrington: New works begin today on Kimberley Court for watermain installation. Altered traffic conditions will remain in place through late April.
  • Ongoing Closures: Ballin Drive in Centenary Heights remains closed between Mackenzie and Stenner Streets for critical water main replacement. In Yandilla, Reichle Road remains closed for flood recovery culvert works.

Public Health Advisory: Measles Vigilance

Darling Downs Health is maintaining a public health alert following the detection of measles cases in the region earlier this month. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant for symptoms including fever, runny nose, a persistent cough, and a characteristic red blotchy rash. If you suspect you have contracted measles, please phone your GP or 13HEALTH before visiting a clinic to prevent potential transmission in waiting rooms.

Water Conservation and Restrictions

Summer water restrictions remain in effect across the Toowoomba Region until 31 March. Under the current schedule, today (Monday) is a non-watering day for all residential properties. Sprinklers and hoses may only be used on designated days: odd-numbered houses on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday; and even-numbered or unnumbered houses on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Watering hours are restricted to 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Community Facilities and Services

Residents are reminded that the Clifton Library remains temporarily closed for essential building maintenance. Digital resources remain available online, and patrons are encouraged to utilize alternative branches. Additionally, the Millmerran Waste Management Facility will operate under its Monday trial hours from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
