Official Roundup: City Notices and Public Advisories for 2 April 2026

Urgent: Final Call for Toowoomba Hospital Maternity Services Feedback
Today, Thursday, 2 April 2026, marks the official closing date for the community feedback questionnaire regarding the independent assurance review of the Toowoomba Hospital Maternity Services. Commissioned by the Director-General of Queensland Health, this independent review seeks to hear from patients and families who have accessed maternity care at the facility. The feedback gathered will be used to drive continuous improvement and ensure the transparency of complaints processes within Darling Downs Health. Residents who have not yet shared their experiences are encouraged to submit their responses before the close of business today to ensure their voices are included in the final report, which is expected to be finalized in May 2026.
Commencement of Winter Sporting Season
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) reminds all local sporting clubs, associations, and residents that the official Winter sporting season for 2026 has commenced as of 1 April. This transition impacts the seasonal use of Council-controlled sporting facilities and parks across the region. Under the current Sport and Recreation Facility Guide, the Winter season runs until 30 September 2026. Clubs are reminded that any use of sports fields remains subject to weather conditions and official field status updates. Unauthorized use of fields while they are marked as "Closed" for maintenance or due to wet weather is considered a breach of usage conditions and may result in penalties.
Infrastructure Alert: Upcoming Major Roadworks
Council has issued several advance notices for significant road infrastructure projects scheduled to begin next week. Residents should prepare for the following disruptions:
- Clifton Road, North Branch: Site setup for the major reconstruction and widening project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. This project will involve widening the roadway to eight metres and improving drainage between the Leslie Bridge Road and Volker Road intersections.
- South Street, Toowoomba: Full road closures will be in place between Drayton Road and West Street from 7 April to 9 April. These works are part of the ongoing intersection upgrades and will occur between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm daily.
- Gordon Avenue: Asphalt works are scheduled for 8 April and 9 April between Teesdale Avenue and Bridge Street. Detours will be in place for through traffic.
Planning Notice: Temporary Local Planning Instrument
The Toowoomba Regional Council continues to operate under the Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) 01/2026, which was adopted earlier this year. This instrument relates to the Table of Assessment for Building Works and applies to the entire planning scheme area. This notice remains active to ensure all building work assessments remain consistent while the new Toowoomba Region Futures planning scheme is finalized. The TLPI is scheduled to remain in effect until February 2028 unless superseded by the new scheme.
Community Reminders
Young photographers in the region are reminded that the Rosalie Gallery is currently accepting submissions for its youth photography display. This program is open to residents aged 12 to 25, with the exhibition set to launch in late April at the Goombungee gallery. Additionally, tickets remain available for the 32nd annual Mayoral Prayer Breakfast, featuring guest speaker Reverend Stu Cameron, which will take place on 12 May 2026.
