Public Transport: Full Service Suspension Today

Commuters and residents are reminded that today, Friday, 3 April 2026, marks the beginning of the Easter long weekend. As it is Good Friday, Translink has confirmed that there will be no bus services operating across the Toowoomba urban network today. This suspension affects all major routes, including the 901, 902, 903, 904, 905, 906, 907, and 950. Normal schedules are not expected to resume until Tuesday, 7 April, though weekend and holiday timetables will be in effect on Saturday and Sunday. If you were planning to use public transport for holiday gatherings, you will need to seek alternative transport arrangements.

Major Road Closures and Hazards

Several local roads remain closed today due to ongoing hazards and planned works. According to the latest Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) status updates, Allans Road remains closed to all traffic due to significant road damage caused by earlier flooding. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and follow all on-site signage.

Additionally, Clifton Leyburn Road in Ellangowan is currently closed between Passmore Road and O’Leary Road for planned roadworks. While construction crews may not be active today due to the public holiday, the physical road closure remains in place, and through traffic should utilize local detours. The Clifton Road North Branch Upgrade is also in its site setup phase, though major closures for that project are not scheduled to begin until April 15.

Highways and Major Arteries

For those traveling out of the city today, be prepared for adjusted conditions on major corridors. The Gore Highway (Anzac Avenue) is undergoing extensive safety upgrades between James Street and Wyreema-Athol Road. While active construction is paused for the holiday, work zones with reduced speed limits and narrowed lanes remain in effect. This project is not slated for completion until September 2026, so these conditions will be a long-term fixture for south-west commuters.

Similarly, the Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road (Taylor Street) between Torrington and Cecil Plains continues to experience disruptions. Motorists should expect 40km/h zones and single-lane controlled conditions in certain sections. On the Warrego Highway, safety improvements between Toowoomba and Dalby are also underway; while the highway remains a high-speed freight corridor, travelers should watch for new signage and modified line markings throughout the 60km project stretch.

Residential Resurfacing and Council Works

The Toowoomba Regional Council's 2026 road resurfacing program is currently active across East Toowoomba, South Toowoomba, and Harristown. Although crews are off-site for the Good Friday break, residents are requested to ensure vehicles are parked clear of marked work zones to allow for a smooth restart of asphalt works next week. Standard double demerits also apply across the Queensland road network for the duration of the Easter break; please drive safely and expect increased traffic volumes on the Range Crossing.
