Highfields Intersection Upgrade: Kratzke Road Traffic Changes

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has announced a significant traffic change as part of the ongoing Highfields Intersections Upgrade Project. Effective today, Monday, 30 March 2026, a single-lane closure is being implemented on Kratzke Road for motorists traveling from Highfields Road. Traffic detours are clearly marked, and drivers are advised to allow for extra travel time or seek alternative routes where possible. These works are essential for the installation of underground infrastructure and are expected to continue through the early part of the week.

Final Week of Summer Water Restrictions

Residents are reminded that the summer water restriction schedule remains in effect until tomorrow, Tuesday, 31 March. As today is Monday, it is a designated non-watering day for all residential properties across the Toowoomba Region. The use of sprinklers and handheld hoses is prohibited today. From Wednesday, 1 April, the region will transition to the autumn/winter schedule. For today, please ensure all automated irrigation systems are deactivated to assist in the conservation of regional water supplies and to avoid potential compliance notices.

Public Health Alert: Ongoing Measles Vigilance

Darling Downs Health continues to urge the community to remain vigilant following the detection of measles cases in the region earlier this month. Health authorities are maintaining a public health alert and advise residents to monitor for symptoms, including a high fever, persistent cough, runny nose, and a characteristic red blotchy rash. If you suspect you or a family member may have contracted the virus, please phone your General Practitioner or 13HEALTH before visiting a clinic in person to prevent potential transmission in waiting rooms. Vaccination remains the most effective defense against the spread of the disease.

Advance Notice: Clifton Road Reconstruction

Preparatory activities are beginning this week for the Clifton Road Reconstruction Project at North Branch. While major construction is scheduled to commence in early April, local residents and agricultural operators may notice increased heavy vehicle movement and site surveying teams in the area starting today. This project is part of a broader commitment to delivering safer and more reliable access for heavy vehicle users and the southern rural community.
