Community Noticeboard: Essential Roadworks and Health Updates for April 1

Road Closures and Traffic Disruptions
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has advised of several active roadworks and infrastructure projects impacting travel on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. Residents are urged to plan their commutes accordingly and follow all posted detour signs to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Alderley Street, Rangeville: A full road closure is in effect between High Street and Blackburn Street from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm today. This closure, which is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, 2 April, is necessary to facilitate essential road gully unit upgrades. Local resident access is maintained, but through traffic is advised to use alternative routes.
- Gowrie Street, Kingsthorpe: Major road reconstruction works continue on the stretch between Goombungee Road and King Street. Traffic disruptions and reduced speed limits are expected to persist in this area through late August.
- Lawrence Road, Highfields: Work is ongoing for the installation of new water mains intended for future reservoirs. Motorists should anticipate delays and altered traffic flow in the Highfields area until late May.
- Kimberley Court, Torrington: Altered traffic conditions remain in place for watermain installation, with these specific works expected to reach completion by the end of April.
- Clifton Road, North Branch: Major reconstruction works are commencing this week to improve access for local residents and heavy vehicle operators. Drivers should be alert for new signage and construction personnel.
Health and Wellness Alerts
Darling Downs Health is currently monitoring regional health safety and encourages community participation in upcoming service reviews to ensure high standards of care.
- Maternity Services Review: Today marks one of the final opportunities for residents to provide input on the independent assurance review of Toowoomba Hospital’s Maternity Services. The feedback questionnaire, which helps inform future clinical standards, will officially close tomorrow, Thursday, 2 April 2026.
- Public Health Vigilance: Health authorities are maintaining a regional alert following detections of measles earlier this season. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant for symptoms including fever, a persistent cough, and a characteristic red blotchy rash. If symptoms are suspected, please phone your GP or 13HEALTH before visiting a clinic to prevent potential transmission.
Council Notices and Infrastructure Tenders
The Council has released several high-priority tenders for regional infrastructure and maintenance services. Local businesses and contractors are invited to review the following current opportunities:
