City Notices Roundup: Infrastructure, Health, and Show Advisories

Official Notice: Public Health Alert and Infrastructure Updates
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) and Darling Downs Health have issued the following public service announcements and official notices for Saturday, 28 March 2026. Residents and visitors are advised to review these updates to ensure community safety and to minimize disruption during a period of high regional activity.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Vigilance
Darling Downs Health is maintaining a high-priority public health alert following the recent detection of measles cases within the Toowoomba region. Health authorities urge all residents to remain vigilant for early symptoms, which typically include high fever, a persistent cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes, followed by a characteristic red blotchy rash. To prevent further transmission, anyone suspecting they may have contracted measles is strictly advised to phone their GP or 13HEALTH before visiting a clinic or hospital waiting room.
Water Conservation: Saturday Watering Schedule
Summer water restrictions remain in effect across the Toowoomba Region through 31 March. Under the current conservation framework, today (Saturday, 28 March) is a designated watering day for residential properties with odd house numbers. Residents at these addresses may use sprinklers and handheld hoses only between the restricted hours of 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm. Even-numbered or unnumbered properties are reminded that their next scheduled watering window is Sunday.
Traffic and Road Infrastructure Notice
Motorists should expect significantly altered traffic conditions today due to the final day of the Toowoomba Royal Show and ongoing regional infrastructure projects:
- Toowoomba Bypass: Fixed lane closures remain in place on both southbound and northbound lanes between the Warrego Highway West interchange at Charlton and the Gore Highway interchange at Athol. Heavy vehicle operators with wide loads must utilize approved detour routes.
- Yandilla/Reichle Road: Reichle Road remains closed for essential flood recovery culvert works. This closure is expected to persist through the end of March, with detours via Owen’s Scrub Road and Missen Road.
- Ballin Drive: Critical water main replacement works continue in Centenary Heights, with the section between Mackenzie and Stenner Streets remaining closed to through traffic.
Community Reminders
Council encourages young residents to participate in the upcoming Queensland Youth Week 2026 program. Free activities for those aged 12–25 are currently being finalized to foster connection and creativity across the region. Additionally, residents are reminded that Council’s bitumen resealing program for the current season is nearing completion; however, some localized signage may still be in place in East Toowoomba and Harristown to protect newly treated surfaces.
