Official Roadwork Schedule: 31 January – 6 February

The Toowoomba Regional Council has confirmed the updated roadwork and maintenance schedule for the week beginning Saturday, 31 January 2026. All scheduled works are weather-permitting, and residents are urged to follow all posted signage and traffic management instructions.

  • East Toowoomba: Localized maintenance is scheduled for Cedar Street. Drivers should expect minor delays and potential temporary lane shifts during work hours.
  • Rangeville: The ongoing westbound lane closure on South Street, between High Street and the area east of Lucinda Street, remains in effect. This closure is necessary for pedestrian access upgrades and is anticipated to stay in place until mid-February. Detours are clearly marked.
  • Yandilla: Reichle Road remains closed for essential flood recovery culvert replacement works. A long-term detour is active via Owen’s Scrub Road, Grasstree Road, Church Road, and Missen Road. These works are scheduled for completion in late March.
  • Southern Districts: Pipeline installation for the Four Communities project continues in Cambooya. Traffic disruptions are expected on Hennessey Road and Henry Road throughout the weekend.

Public Service Portal Outages

Public service users are advised of scheduled maintenance affecting several digital application systems. WorkSafe Queensland has notified the public that the following services will be offline on Saturday, 31 January 2026:

  • High Risk Work (HRW) Licence Online Register
  • Licence Application Portal
  • Assessor's Portal

Normal digital services are expected to resume following the completion of this system update by the Office of Industrial Relations.

Health and Safety Advisories

While no active emergency warnings have been issued today for the Toowoomba region, health authorities remind residents to remain vigilant following the extreme heat conditions recorded across the state earlier this week. Darling Downs Health encourages the community to stay hydrated and monitor the well-being of elderly neighbors and pets during the warm summer period.

Council and Community Announcements

Commission of Inquiry: A public service announcement has confirmed that the Toowoomba Court House will host the first 2026 public hearing for the Commission of Inquiry into Child Safety. While the hearings begin in mid-February, preparatory notices and calls for submissions are currently active.

Councillor Zone Rotations: As part of the Council’s commitment to community engagement, Toowoomba Regional Councillors have officially rotated into their new geographic zones for 2026. Residents may notice their local representative appearing at more neighborhood-specific events and service club meetings this month.

Arts at Crows Nest: The Crows Nest Gallery is hosting the ongoing exhibition "past²" by the Saturday Printmakers. The exhibit celebrates 15 years of local artistic practice and is open to the public this Saturday.
