Official City Notices for Thursday, 5 March 2026
Toowoomba Regional Council and state authorities have issued several public notices regarding essential infrastructure works, community health, and service disruptions active for Thursday, 5 March 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to review the following updates to ensure safety and compliance with current regulations.
Roadworks and Traffic Disruptions
Significant road infrastructure projects are currently underway across the region, impacting local traffic flow and property access. Motorists should plan for delays or seek alternative routes in the following areas:
- Centenary Heights: Ballin Drive remains closed to through traffic between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street. This full road closure is necessary for critical water main works and is scheduled to continue until late March. Local resident access is maintained via detours.
- Highfields: Traffic disruptions continue on Lawrence Road as crews facilitate the installation of new water mains. These works began earlier this week and are expected to persist through May.
- Westbrook: A full road closure is in effect on Gore Street between Keding Road and Barwick Street for pavement reconstruction. This closure will remain active through Friday, 13 March.
- Toowoomba Bypass: The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises that fixed lane closures remain in place on both southbound and northbound lanes of the Toowoomba Bypass. Restrictions are active daily from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
- Ellangowan: Clifton Leyburn Road is closed to all traffic between Passmore Road and O'Leary Road due to planned roadworks.
Summer Water Restrictions
Toowoomba Regional Council reminds residents that summer water restrictions remain in effect until 31 March 2026. Under the current schedule, Thursday is the designated watering day for ODD-numbered premises. Residents may use hand-held hoses with trigger nozzles, efficient irrigation systems, or sprinklers between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm only. Established gardens may also be watered using a bucket or watering can before 8:00 am or after 4:00 pm.
Public Health Alert: Measles Vigilance
The Darling Downs Public Health Unit continues to monitor the region following a confirmed case of measles detected in Toowoomba. Health authorities urge the community to remain vigilant for symptoms, including fever, a persistent cough, runny nose, and a red blotchy rash. If you suspect you have symptoms, please contact your GP or call 13HEALTH to arrange a telehealth consultation or a safe clinical visit to prevent further transmission.
Community Services and Facility Updates
The Clifton Library is currently closed to the public to allow for essential building maintenance. This temporary closure began on 3 March and will continue until further notice. Library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Council’s online digital resources or visit the Toowoomba City library branch during this period.
