Official City Notice: Sunday, 1 March 2026

Toowoomba Regional Council and local authorities have issued several public notices and service advisories effective for Sunday, 1 March 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the following information regarding the Peak2Park community event, ongoing major roadworks, and facility maintenance schedules to ensure a smooth start to the month.

Peak2Park 2026 Event and Traffic Advisory

The annual Peak2Park fun run and walk is scheduled for Sunday, 1 March. Motorists should anticipate significant pedestrian activity and localized traffic diversions along the event route between Picnic Point and Lake Annand. Key details include:

  • 10km Event: Commencing at the eastern side of the Picnic Point ring road at 7:00 am. Marshalling begins at 6:30 am.
  • 4km Event: Commencing at Heller Street (immediately south of Tobruk Drive) at 7:45 am. Marshalling begins at 7:15 am.
  • Finish Line: Both events conclude at Lake Annand. Residents in the South Toowoomba and Range areas should expect increased traffic and limited parking near these locations throughout the morning.

Major Roadworks and Closures

Several critical infrastructure projects remain active, impacting travel across the region this Sunday:

  • Centenary Heights: Ballin Drive remains closed to through traffic between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street. This closure is necessary for essential water main works and is expected to continue through late March. Local resident access is maintained via detours.
  • Yandilla: Reichle Road is closed for Flood Recovery culvert replacement. Motorists are advised to detour via Owen’s Scrub Road, Grasstree Road, Church Road, and Missen Road. Works are scheduled for completion by the end of March.
  • Toowoomba City/Harristown: Council is currently executing a region-wide road resurfacing program. While no major closures are scheduled specifically for Sunday, residents may notice temporary signage and loose stone on recently treated surfaces in East and South Toowoomba.

Facility and Utility Updates

Council has also announced upcoming service changes and ongoing infrastructure investments:

  • Clifton Library: Residents are advised that the Clifton Library will be temporarily closed for essential building maintenance starting Tuesday, 3 March. Sunday visitors to the region should plan accordingly for any library-related needs before the closure.
  • Highfields Reservoirs Project: Preparatory work is now underway on the Highfields Reservoirs Project. This major water security initiative will involve increased heavy vehicle movement in the Highfields area, though no immediate service interruptions are expected this weekend.
  • Waste Collection: Standard kerbside waste and recycling collections will proceed as scheduled. Residents are reminded to have bins placed at the kerbside by 5:30 am to ensure collection.
