Official Notice: Temporary Closure of Clifton Library
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has announced that the Clifton Library will be temporarily closed to the public starting Tuesday, 3 March 2026. This closure is required to facilitate essential building works and internal maintenance. During this period, residents are encouraged to utilize Council’s online library services for digital loans or visit alternative branches throughout the region. Council expects the maintenance to ensure the long-term safety and functionality of the facility for the Clifton community.
Traffic and Infrastructure Alerts
Motorists and residents are advised of several significant roadwork projects and closures scheduled to commence or remain active on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. Please plan your travel accordingly and follow all on-site signage.
- Highfields – Lawrence Road: Significant traffic disruptions are expected to begin on Tuesday, 3 March, as crews start the installation of new water mains. These works, which support the future reservoirs servicing the Highfields area, are scheduled to continue through late May.
- Westbrook – Gore Street: A full road closure will be in effect on Gore Street between Keding Road and Barwick Street starting Tuesday, 3 March. This closure is necessary for pavement reconstruction and is expected to remain in place until Friday, 13 March.
- Westbrook – Gwenda Drive: Stormwater works on Gwenda Drive, between Ferguson Street and Edwin Street, will conclude today, Tuesday, 3 March. The road is expected to reopen following the completion of work at 3:00 pm.
- Westbrook – FGG Couper Road: Scheduled gravel resheeting operations are set to conclude on Tuesday, 3 March, with the road reopening to normal traffic conditions following final inspections.
- Centenary Heights – Ballin Drive: The full road closure between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street remains active for critical water main replacements. This project is scheduled to continue until the end of March.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Vigilance
The Darling Downs Public Health Unit is maintaining a high level of vigilance following a confirmed case of measles detected in the Toowoomba region. Health authorities urge residents to monitor for symptoms including fever, a persistent cough, runny nose, and a red blotchy rash. To prevent further transmission, anyone suspected of having symptoms is strictly advised to contact their General Practitioner or call 13HEALTH to make arrangements before visiting a medical clinic or emergency department.
