Public Notice: Essential Roadworks and Community Updates for Friday, 6 February

Official Road Closure and Traffic Advisories
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has issued several traffic notices effective for Friday, 6 February 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly to avoid delays. Essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades will result in the following disruptions:
- Jarrah Street: A full road closure will be in effect from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm to facilitate necessary asphalt patching works. Access for local residents will be maintained, but through traffic must follow the established detours.
- Ruthven Street: The northbound outside lane between North Street and Jones Street will remain closed from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. This closure is required for the final stages of bus stop construction. Signage and traffic management will be on-site to assist motorists.
- Cory Street: Motorists should anticipate minor traffic disruptions between Taylor Street and Russell Street due to ongoing bluestone kerb repair works. These works are expected to continue through late February.
Water Conservation and Usage Guidelines
Council reminds all residents that current water conservation measures remain in force for the summer season. While dam levels are stable, efficient use of the reticulated supply is required to ensure long-term security. For Friday, 6 February, the following guidelines apply:
- General cleaning of equipment and vehicle washing is permitted only before 10:00 am and after 4:00 pm. High-pressure water units or hoses with trigger nozzles must be used.
- The topping up of existing swimming pools and spas is permitted, provided a pool cover is utilized to prevent evaporation.
- Odd-numbered properties are permitted to water established gardens during the designated summer window of 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Regional Arts and Cultural Exhibitions
Public galleries across the region have launched new exhibitions this week, providing cultural opportunities for residents in the northern districts. Admission to these local government facilities is free of charge:
- Crows Nest Gallery: The exhibition "Echoes" by artist Toni Bren-Clarke is now open. The collection features oil paintings inspired by the artist’s grandparents and will remain on display until 8 March.
- Rosalie Gallery: Located in Goombungee, the gallery is hosting "Pigeon Teeth" by Toowoomba artist Aaron Hine. This imaginative display uses single-frame narratives to tell a broader story of mythical worlds.
Council Advocacy and Engagement
Toowoomba Regional Council has recently finalized its State and Federal Budget Advocacy Priorities for the 2026/27 cycle. Key focus areas include securing funding for the Cressbrook Dam Safety Improvement Project and the first stage of the Toowoomba Region Sports Precinct. Additionally, the new zone-based engagement model is now active, with Councillors rotating into new geographic zones this month to ensure all residents have direct access to their elected representatives.
