Official City Notices for Thursday, 12 March 2026

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) and local authorities have issued several essential updates for residents regarding infrastructure projects, facility closures, and public health advisories active today, Thursday, 12 March 2026. Residents are encouraged to review these notices to minimize disruptions to their daily routines.

Roadworks and Traffic Management

Extensive road maintenance and infrastructure upgrades are currently underway across the region. Motorists should plan for extra travel time and follow all posted detours:

  • Centenary Heights: Ballin Drive remains fully closed to through traffic between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street. This closure is necessary for critical water main works and is expected to remain in place until the end of March. Local resident access is maintained via detours.
  • Glencoe and Smiths Road: Significant disruptions are expected on Gowrie Lilyvale Road and Smiths Road (between Garskes Road and Gowrie Lilyvale Road) due to road upgrade works under the Blackspot Program. These sites are scheduled for completion by mid-March.
  • Southern District: Reichle Road remains closed for flood recovery culvert replacement works. A detour is in effect via Owen’s Scrub Road and Missen Road.
  • Resurfacing Program: General road resurfacing is active today in East Toowoomba, South Toowoomba, and Harristown. Residents are requested not to park vehicles on the road reserve between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm in active work zones to avoid spray drift.

Community Facilities and Health Alerts

Public service adjustments and health monitoring continue to be a priority for the region:

  • Clifton Library Closure: The Clifton Library remains temporarily closed for essential building maintenance and upgrades. This closure commenced on 3 March and will continue until further notice. Patrons are encouraged to utilize the mobile library or digital resources during this time.
  • Public Health Advisory: The Darling Downs Public Health Unit maintains a measles alert for the Toowoomba region following a recently confirmed local case. Residents should monitor for symptoms including fever, cough, and a red blotchy rash, and contact their GP before arriving at a clinic if symptoms appear.

Public Engagement and Planning

Several community and business events are scheduled for today:

  • Ready for the Future Network: The UniSQ Toowoomba campus is hosting the "Ready for the Future Network Event" today from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm at B Block, focusing on post-school pathways and vocational expertise.
  • Planning Updates: Residents and developers are reminded that the Temporary Local Planning Instrument 01/2026, regarding assessment levels for building works, is now in full effect to streamline local development applications.
