Public Notice: Significant Road Closures and Infrastructure Works

Toowoomba Regional Council has issued several notices regarding critical infrastructure works scheduled to commence on Saturday, 7 February 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and follow all posted detours and traffic management instructions.

  • Ruthven Street (City Centre): A full road closure will be in effect on Ruthven Street, between Herries Street and Telford Street, starting from 4:00 PM on Saturday, 7 February. This closure is required to facilitate essential water main replacement works and is expected to remain in place until midnight on Sunday, 8 February. Traffic detours will be clearly marked.
  • Ballin Drive (Centenary Heights): Extensive water main works are scheduled to begin on Ballin Drive, between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street, on Saturday, 7 February. This section of road will be closed to through traffic. These works are part of a long-term infrastructure upgrade and are projected to continue until late March 2026.
  • Regional Roadworks Schedule: General maintenance and asphalt patching are scheduled across the Central District from 7 February through to 13 February. Motorists should expect minor delays and localized traffic control measures in various suburban streets.

Financial Notices: 2026 General Rate Notices

Toowoomba Regional Council confirms that the first installment of general rate notices for the 2026 calendar year was issued on 6 February 2026. Residents should expect to receive their notices via post or email shortly. The due date for payment is Wednesday, 11 March 2026. A 5% discount on the general rate remains applicable for those who pay in full by the due date.

Health Advisory: Measles Alert Follow-up

Darling Downs Health continues to remind the community to remain vigilant following a measles alert issued in late January. While active exposure sites at St Vincent’s Private Hospital and the Toowoomba Medical and Dental Centre have passed the immediate risk window, residents who visited these locations between 20 and 22 January 2026 are advised to monitor for symptoms for up to 21 days. Symptoms include fever, cough, and a blotchy red rash. If symptoms develop, please contact your GP or 13HEALTH immediately.

Community Service: Summer Tunes Program

The 2026 Summer Tunes program continues this Saturday, 7 February. These free community concerts are held every Saturday throughout February at various parks across the region. Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy local musical talent in a family-friendly outdoor setting. Events are weather permitting; check the official Council social media pages for venue-specific updates if conditions appear unstable.
