Traffic and Infrastructure Alerts

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) continues several major infrastructure and maintenance projects across the region this week. Residents and commuters are advised of the following active roadworks and closures for Tuesday, 10 March 2026:

  • Centenary Heights: Ballin Drive remains fully closed to through traffic between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street. This closure is necessary for critical water main replacement works and is expected to continue through to the end of March. Local resident access is maintained, but all other motorists should follow the established detours.
  • Glencoe: Smiths Road, specifically the section between Garskes Road and Gowrie Lilyvale Road, remains closed as part of the Blackspot Program road upgrades. These works are scheduled to conclude in mid-March.
  • Yandilla: Reichle Road is currently closed to facilitate essential flood recovery culvert replacement. A detour is active via Owen’s Scrub Road and Church Road, with works anticipated to last until late March.
  • Toowoomba City: Motorists should expect minor delays and traffic disruptions on Taylor Street, between Mort Street and Mill Street, due to ongoing utility and surface maintenance.

Public Health and Safety Advisory

The Darling Downs Public Health Unit is maintaining a high level of vigilance following recently confirmed cases of measles within the Queensland region. Health authorities are urging Toowoomba residents to ensure their vaccinations are up to date. Symptoms to monitor include fever, a persistent cough, runny nose, and a distinctive red blotchy rash. If symptoms develop, residents are advised to contact their GP or call 13HEALTH to arrange a consultation, rather than visiting a clinic unannounced, to minimize the risk of transmission in waiting rooms.

Community Services and Facilities

A reminder for residents in the southern district that the Clifton Library remains temporarily closed for essential building maintenance and internal works. The closure, which began on 3 March, is expected to continue while structural improvements are finalized. Patrons are encouraged to utilize the TRC mobile library services or digital resources during this period.

Cultural and Planning Notices

Today, Tuesday, 10 March 2026, marks the opening of a new contemporary art exhibition at the University of Southern Queensland Art Gallery. The exhibition, which explores the use of color in everyday Australian experiences, will run until 10 April. Additionally, the Council reminds developers and property owners that the Temporary Local Planning Instrument 01/2026 is now in full effect. This instrument streamlines the Table of Assessment for Building Works across the entire planning scheme area to facilitate more efficient local development applications.
