Official Roundup: Toowoomba City Notices and Infrastructure Updates

Essential Public Notices for Saturday, 14 March 2026
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) and local health authorities have issued the following official notices and service updates for residents and visitors across the region. Please take note of scheduled infrastructure works and health advisories currently in effect.
Major Roadworks and Traffic Disruptions
Several significant infrastructure projects are underway to facilitate utility upgrades and flood recovery. Motorists are advised to plan for delays in the following areas:
- Ballin Drive (Centenary Heights): A full road closure remains in effect between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street. These critical water main replacement works are scheduled to continue through the end of March. Detours are in place for through traffic; local resident access is maintained.
- Toowoomba Bypass (Warrego Highway): Fixed lane closures are active on both southbound and northbound lanes between the Warrego Highway West interchange (Charlton) and the Gore Highway interchange (Athol). Pavement stabilisation works are scheduled between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. Oversize vehicle restrictions apply.
- Smiths Road (Glencoe): The road is closed between Garskes Road and Gowrie Lilyvale Road for safety upgrades under the Blackspot Program. Works are expected to conclude by mid-March. Traffic disruptions are also likely on Gowrie Lilyvale Road.
- Reichle Road (Yandilla): A total closure is in place for flood recovery culvert replacement. Detours are available via Owen’s Scrub Road and Church Road until late March.
Public Health Advisories
Darling Downs Health continues to monitor community wellness and encourages residents to remain vigilant regarding the following:
- Measles Vigilance: Following a confirmed case in the region earlier this month, health authorities urge the community to monitor for symptoms, including fever, a persistent cough, and a red blotchy rash. Residents should ensure their vaccinations are up to date.
- Wildlife Safety: Visitors to regional parks are advised to avoid any contact with local wildlife, particularly flying foxes, to mitigate the risk of Australian Bat Lyssavirus (ABLV) exposure.
Community Services and Planning
- Clifton Library: This branch remains temporarily closed to the public while essential building maintenance is completed. Patrons are encouraged to utilize online digital resources or visit alternative TRC library branches.
- Planning Instrument 01/2026: Residents and developers are reminded that the Temporary Local Planning Instrument regarding Building Works assessment levels is now in full effect across the planning scheme area.
