Official Roundup: Infrastructure Updates, Health Alerts, and Facility Closures for Toowoomba

Toowoomba Regional Council Public Service Announcement
The following official notices and public service announcements are active for Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Residents and commuters are encouraged to review these updates to ensure minimal disruption to daily activities and to maintain community health standards.
Major Roadworks and Traffic Disruptions
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) continues its extensive infrastructure maintenance and flood recovery program. Several key routes remain affected by scheduled works:
- Centenary Heights (Ballin Drive): A full road closure remains in effect on Ballin Drive between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street. This closure is necessary for critical water main replacement works and is expected to continue until late March. Detours are clearly marked, and local resident access is maintained.
- Glencoe (Gowrie Lilyvale Road & Smiths Road): Road upgrade works under the Blackspot Program are ongoing. Smiths Road remains closed between Garskes Road and Gowrie Lilyvale Road until mid-March. Commuters should expect traffic disruptions and delays on Gowrie Lilyvale Road during this period.
- Yandilla/Anduramba (Reichle Road): A total road closure is in place for a Flood Recovery culvert replacement project. Works are scheduled for completion by the end of March 2026, weather permitting. A detour is available via Owen’s Scrub Road, Grasstree Road, Church Road, and Missen Road.
- General Resurfacing Program: Council crews and contractors are currently conducting asphalt resurfacing across East Toowoomba, South Toowoomba, and Harristown. Residents are requested to avoid parking within road reserves between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm on scheduled work days to prevent spray drift and facilitate efficient operations.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Vigilance
Darling Downs Health reminds the community to remain vigilant following a confirmed case of measles detected in the Toowoomba region earlier this season. Health authorities urge residents to monitor for symptoms, which typically include fever, a persistent cough, runny nose, and a red blotchy rash. If symptoms develop, residents should contact their GP or 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) and advise the clinic before arriving to prevent potential exposure to other patients.
Facility Closures and Planning Notices
- Clifton Library: The Clifton Library is temporarily closed for essential building maintenance and upgrades. This closure commenced on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. Patrons are encouraged to utilize online library resources or visit neighboring branches during this period.
- Temporary Local Planning Instrument 01/2026: The Toowoomba Regional Council has officially adopted the Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) 01/2026, regarding the Table of Assessment for Building Works. This instrument is now active across the entire planning area to streamline assessment levels for local development applications.
