Public Notice: Infrastructure and Traffic Disruptions

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) advises residents and commuters of several significant road closures and infrastructure projects active today, Friday, 6 March 2026. These works are part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to water security and road safety. Motorists are urged to follow all posted detours and allow for additional travel time.

  • Ballin Drive, Centenary Heights: A full road closure remains in effect between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street. These essential water main replacement works are scheduled to continue through the end of March. Local resident access is maintained, but through traffic must use the established detours.
  • Gore Street, Westbrook: Pavement reconstruction works are currently underway between Keding Road and Barwick Street. The road will remain closed to all through traffic until Friday, 13 March.
  • Reichle Road, Yandilla: As part of the region-wide Flood Recovery Program, culvert replacement works continue. The road is expected to remain closed until late March, with detours available via Owen’s Scrub Road and Church Road.
  • Toowoomba Bypass (Warrego Highway): The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) continues to manage fixed lane closures on both southbound and northbound lanes between the Warrego Highway West interchange and the Gore Highway interchange. These restrictions are active during daytime hours and are expected to conclude later this month.

Facility Maintenance: Clifton Library Closure

Community members are reminded that the Clifton Library is currently closed for essential building maintenance and structural works. This temporary closure commenced on Tuesday, 3 March, and is necessary to ensure the long-term safety and integrity of the facility. While the physical branch is unavailable, residents are encouraged to access the Council’s digital library services and e-resources. Information regarding a firm reopening date will be provided once the current phase of maintenance is completed.

Public Health Advisory: Measles Vigilance

Darling Downs Health continues to monitor the region following a confirmed case of measles detected in Toowoomba last month. While no new local transmissions have been reported this week, health authorities are advising residents to remain vigilant for symptoms. These typically include fever, a persistent cough, runny nose, and the characteristic red blotchy rash. Individuals who are unsure of their vaccination status or who suspect they may have symptoms should contact their healthcare provider for advice before visiting a clinic in person.

Community Notice: Australasian Parks Week 2026

The Toowoomba Region is currently celebrating Australasian Parks Week, which runs through Monday, 9 March. This initiative highlights the importance of our 560+ green spaces for community health and well-being. While regular maintenance and horticultural upgrades are occurring in several botanic gardens, all major parks remain open for public use. Residents are invited to participate in the upcoming "Redwood Madeira Weed Challenge" tomorrow morning at Redwood Park to assist in preserving our local biodiversity.
