Roadworks and Traffic Infrastructure

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has issued several public notices regarding essential roadworks and maintenance projects active on Friday, 13 February 2026. Motorists are encouraged to check the Toowoomba Disaster Dashboard for real-time updates on rain-affected roads and localized traffic flow conditions.

  • Horton Street Closure: Horton Street, between Herries Street and Kitchener Street, will be closed to all through traffic on Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Crews are performing essential asphalt patching in this section. Local residents will have restricted access, while all other vehicles must follow the established detours.
  • Campbell Street Maintenance: Drainage works are scheduled for completion today on Campbell Street between Lindsay Street and Mary Street. A closure of the footpath and the westbound road shoulder remains in place until 3:00 pm. Pedestrian detours are clearly marked for those navigating the area.
  • Ballin Drive Water Main Project: The long-term road closure on Ballin Drive, between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street, remains active. This project, which involves critical water main upgrades, is scheduled to continue through late March. Through traffic should continue to use the designated detour via nearby arterial roads.
  • Toowoomba Bypass (Warrego Highway): The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises that fixed lane closures remain in effect on the Toowoomba Bypass. Work hours for Friday are 6:00 am to 6:00 pm between the Warrego Highway West interchange at Charlton and the Gore Highway interchange at Athol.

Health and Community Safety Advisories

Darling Downs Health continues to urge the community to stay informed regarding regional health alerts. While the primary monitoring period for the most recent measles exposure sites concludes this week, health officials recommend that residents ensure their vaccinations are up to date, particularly for those born during or after 1966 who may not have received two doses of the MMR vaccine. Monitoring for fever, cough, and a blotchy red rash remains advised if you believe you have been exposed.

Additionally, residents are reminded that the Cressbrook Dam Safety Improvement Project is continuing its preparatory phase. While the dam remains a key recreational area, visitors should be aware of ongoing site assessments for the spillway upgrades, which are part of a $270 million mandatory safety initiative designed to protect downstream communities.

Public Service and Facility Reminders

Council facilities and services will operate as follows for Friday, 13 February:

  • Waste Collection: Weekly general waste and fortnightly recycling collections are proceeding as normal for Friday routes. Please ensure all bins are placed 1 metre from the road kerb and 50cm from other bins by 6:00 am to ensure timely service.
  • Sporting Fields: Following recent localized weather observations, the status of council sports fields is subject to change. Coaches and participants should verify field availability via the "Field Status" tool on the TRC website, which is updated by 2:00 pm each business day.
  • Community Events: While no free Summer Tunes performances are scheduled for Friday, the program continues tomorrow, Saturday, across various regional parks. Residents are also advised that the International Street Fiesta originally slated for this weekend at Queens Park has been cancelled following an update from the event committee.
