Essential Roadworks and Traffic Management

Toowoomba Regional Council has issued several notices regarding essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades scheduled for Monday, 9 February 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly as detours will be in place for the following locations:

  • Suffolk Street: The section between Ipswich Street and James Street will be closed to all through traffic from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm to facilitate asphalt patching. Resident access will be maintained, but motorists are urged to follow signed detours.
  • Creek Street: A full road closure is scheduled from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm for asphalt repairs. Similar to Suffolk Street, local access remains available while through traffic is diverted.
  • Campbell Street: Work begins today between Lindsay Street and Mary Street for essential drainage upgrades. While the road remains open, the footpath and westbound road shoulder will be closed between 6:30 am and 3:00 pm. These works are expected to continue through Friday, 13 February.
  • Highfields District: Road closures will affect the intersection of Cawdor Road and Cawdor Drive. The eastbound lane of Cawdor Drive and the southbound lane of Cawdor Road will be closed from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for guard rail repairs and vegetation management.

Public Transport and Rail Alerts

Translink has confirmed service adjustments affecting the Toowoomba region. Commuters using rail and bus services should note the following changes for Monday, 9 February:

  • Ipswich Line: A late-night track closure is scheduled for the Ipswich line. Passengers planning late travel should check the updated timetable for replacement bus services.
  • Harristown Stop Change: Residents are reminded that the bus stop on Phyllis Street, Harristown, remains permanently closed as of earlier this month. Passengers should utilize alternative stops as listed on the Translink service map.

Community Notices and Health Advisories

In community developments, Council continues to advocate for the 2026/27 Queensland State Government Budget Advocacy Priorities, focusing on regional water security and infrastructure. Additionally, the new zone-based engagement model for Councillors is now in effect, ensuring localized representation across the North, South, and Emerging zones.

Regarding public health, there are ongoing calls for a Part 9 review of the Toowoomba Hospital maternity unit following recent community feedback. Residents are also encouraged to maintain high hygiene standards and stay up to date with vaccinations as part of the statewide 'Don’t Be Complacent' health campaign.

Local art enthusiasts can visit the Crows Nest Gallery for the "Echoes" exhibition by Toni Bren-Clarke or the Rosalie Gallery in Goombungee for Aaron Hine’s "Pigeon Teeth" display, both of which are open to the public today.
