Official City Notices for Thursday, 12 February 2026

Toowoomba Regional Council and state health authorities have issued several critical updates for residents regarding local infrastructure, public health monitoring, and upcoming community hearings. Residents are encouraged to review the following notices to minimize disruptions to their daily routines.

Roadworks and Traffic Management

Extensive road maintenance and infrastructure upgrades are currently active across the region. Motorists should plan for delays or seek alternative routes in the following areas:

  • Horton Street (Centenary Heights): A full road closure is in effect between Herries Street and Kitchener Street today from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Crews are performing essential asphalt patching. Local resident access is maintained, but through traffic must follow signed detours.
  • Ballin Drive: This thoroughfare remains closed between Mackenzie Street and Stenner Street for ongoing water main replacement works. This closure is expected to persist until late March.
  • Cory Street: Expect traffic disruptions between Taylor Street and Russell Street due to bluestone kerb repair works. Traffic management is on-site to assist with vehicle flow.
  • Regional Speed Reductions: Reduced speed limits of 40km/h are currently enforced on the Toowoomba Cecil Plains Road (Wellcamp), Esk Hampton Road (Perseverance), and Pechey Maclagan Road (Highland Plains) due to active maintenance crews.

Public Health Advisory: Measles Alert

Darling Downs Health continues to urge residents to remain vigilant following a confirmed measles case identified in late January. Because the incubation period for measles can last up to three weeks, individuals who visited the following locations should monitor for symptoms through today and the coming weekend:

  • St Vincent’s Private Hospital Emergency Department (22 January).
  • Toowoomba Medical and Dental Centre, James Street (20 January).

Symptoms include fever, lethargy, runny nose, and a blotchy red rash. If symptoms develop, contact your GP or 13HEALTH immediately; do not attend clinics without prior phone notification to prevent further transmission.

Community and Service Updates

  • International Street Fiesta: Following an official committee update on 11 February, the International Street Fiesta previously scheduled for Queens Park this Saturday has been modified or postponed. Residents who planned to attend are advised to check local community boards for the updated schedule.
  • Commission of Inquiry: Preparation is underway for the Commission of Inquiry into Child Safety, which will commence public hearings at the Toowoomba Court House starting Monday, 16 February. The inquiry will focus on the intersection of child safety and youth justice systems.
  • Summer Tunes: The Council’s free Summer Tunes program continues this weekend. Residents are reminded that these local park performances are weather-dependent.
